One of the best-preserved amphitheaters of the Roman Empire is in the center of the city of Verona. It hosted games where gladiators would fight each other or wild animals before a vast public that came from all over the territory. It is used today for operas and concerts and in July and August take place every year an important Opera Festival. This Roman Arena can seat 15.000 spectators and put on a show with scenery designed by the greatest artist in the world: an evening at the Arena is unforgettable.
The 2006 programme includes important operas of Giuseppe Verdi, Bizet, Giacomo Puccini : Aida, Carmen, Madame Butterfly, Tosca, etc.
