capital and its biggest town. You'll enjoy the hilly labyrinth

fine monuments.
In the afternoon excursion to the Islands of Sant'Antioco
and San Pietro. These islands have sandy beaches and quiet coves,
as well as the pleasant towns of Calasetta (Sant'Antioco) and
Carloforte (San Pietro), both with whitewashed or pastel-coloured
houses lining narrow streets.
Return in hotel for dinner and overnight.
3. day: Barumini - Orgosolo - Nuoro
After breakfast departure to Barumini and visit of the
"nuraghe" Sa Nuraxi. As early as 1800 BC Sardinians started
raising rudimentary defensive towers, the nuraghi. The creators
of them were fine enginers as in some complex form there were
conical towers of several levels, held together bt the force
of gravity. Sa Nuraxi is the biggest, the most famous
and perhaps the oldest of them, giving us a good taste of the
primitive grandeur of the island's only indigenous civilization.
Then we'll reach the village of Orgosolo, well known
for its sheep-rustlers, bandits and murales. Here you'll have
a typical special lunch with the shepherds.
In the afternoon visit of the Ethnografic Museum of Nuoro,
with everything from traditional costumes to household implements
of a bygone age.
Dinner and overnight in the area of Nuoro.
4. day:Emerald Coast - La Maddalena Island

beaches.

5. day:Tempio Pausania - Aggius - Castelsardo
After breakfast you'll cross the beautiful inland region called
Gallura, whose raw red and wind-sculpted granite mountains
imbue the area with its unique edge-of-the-wilderness appeal.
There is a hidden world within here, thickly forested with the
cork-oaks. Visit of the town of Tempio Pausania and the
spectacular granitic stones of Aggius. You'll continue
then to Castelsardo and visit of the historical centre.
Free time for shopping in the typical craftmen shops. Dinner
and overnight in the area of Castelsardo-Isola Rossa.
6. day: Alghero
Full day excursion to Alghero. Visit of this tourist town that
is also a flourishing fishing port. The predominat flavour here
is Catalan, owing to a wholesale Hispanicization. The traces
are still strong in the old town with its flamboyants churches,
wrought-iron balconies and narrow cobbled streets named in both
Italian and Catalan. Near to Alghero there is Capo Caccia, where
the spectacular sheer cliffs are riddled by deep marine caves.
The most impressive is the Grotta di Nettuno with fantastical
stalagmites and stalactites. Return in hotel for dinner and
overnight.
7. day:Oristano - Tharros
After breakfast departure to Oristano by the inland road. Visit
of the Sinis Peninsula, with sandy beaches and the ruins of

impeccably by the sea, reached the height of its importance
under the Carthaginians, but what is visible today largely dates
to Roman era. Dinner and overnight in the area of Oristano.
